Challenging Choice 1909 Double Eagle

1909 $20 MS64 PCGS. Bowers comments interestingly in his double eagle Guide Book, "The 1909 double eagle, 'perfect date' (not overdate), is readily available, but hardly common, in lower Mint State levels through 62. Higher grades are seldom seen, and even a nice MS-63 would be a show-stopper!" The present piece surpasses even that grade, as it is only lightly abraded and exhibits pleasing apricot-gold luster. PCGS has graded only 27 finer (8/09).
