Important 1909-S Gem Double Eagle

1909-S $20 MS65 NGC. After the hoard of 1909-S Saints entered the market some 15 years ago, this has become one of the more available issues among the early issues in the series. But it is still a scarce and important coin in Gem condition. The surfaces display the reddish tinged mint frost that is usually seen on this issue and the striking details are sharply defined in all areas. However, unlike most of the El Salvador Hoard pieces, this one shows only the slightest post-striking impairments. Exceptional quality. NGC and PCGS together have seen only 10 pieces grading finer (11/05).
