Description

1910-D Double Eagle, MS66
Prohibitively Rare Any Finer

1910-D $20 MS66 PCGS. An estimated survival of 15,000 coins from the 429,000-piece mintage makes the 1910-D an available branch mint Saint-Gaudens twenty. About 14,000 of those surviving examples come from foreign holdings. While the origin of this Premium Gem example is unknown, most high-end Uncirculated examples come from coins sent to South America. This lustrous and virtually unabraded example displays rich orange and canary-gold coloration and a strong Denver Mint strike. A few scattered, tiny marks and the lack of any significant abrasions suggest long-term bag storage with little or no handling. Eye appeal is terrific. PCGS reports only two numerically finer examples, plus 16 pieces in 66+ (8/25).(Registry values: N4719)
