Splendid 1911-D Saint-Gaudens Twenty, MS66

1911-D $20 MS66 NGC. One of the more available mintmarked issues from early in the Saint-Gaudens series, the 1911-D is well-known for a popular overmintmark variety. This example is not the variety, but it demonstrate the other characteristic for which the issue is known, generous production values. The fields on each side are of the full cartwheel variety, and the strike is nearly full. Even under a loupe the surfaces reveal essentially no distractions, along with mattelike luster and tremendous appeal.(Registry values: N2998)
