Impressive 1911-S Double Eagle, MS66

1911-S $20 MS66 NGC. While the 1911-S double eagle qualifies as "available for a price" in near-Gem or even Gem condition, anything finer is far more elusive. Premium Gems such as this MS66 survivor are condition rarities, and only one coin higher than that appears in the combined certified population (5/10). Rich golden overtones grace yellow-gold surfaces that swirl with luster. The strike is uncommonly solid for the issue with only slight flatness noted on Liberty's knee. Pleasingly preserved with faint patina and only a few small marks on each side, with a tiny tick on Liberty's leg the most visible.(Registry values: N4719)
