Sharply Struck, Radiant 1912 Twenty, MS64

1912 $20 MS64 PCGS. How does the 1912 double eagle differ, besides the date, from the 1911? Two tiny stars were added near the oak leaves, symbolizing the addition of New Mexico and Arizona to the Union. The current MS64 piece is about the top end for most Mint State pieces, as PCGS has certified only 32 coins finer (9/09). The yellow-gold surfaces boast plenty of eye appeal, a combination of radiant luster and surfaces free of any major distractions. The strike is marvelously sharp on both sides. A tiny dark toning spot appears inside the O of OF on the reverse.(Registry values: N2998)
