Description
Superior 1913 Gem Twenty Dollar
1913 $20 MS65 NGC. The 1913 double eagle is not overly difficult to acquire in the lower Mint State levels, and even near-Gems can be obtained with a bit of effort. Gems are encountered in the marketplace only infrequently, and better-than-Gem coins are virtually nonexistent. NGC and PCGS have certified only 26 MS65 pieces and NGC has seen a single Premium Gem.The present MS65 offering is sure to draw serious attention from connoisseurs of high-quality gold coinage. Unlike the "flat look" typically seen on this date, the current piece displays razor-sharp detail as seen on Liberty's fingers, the panes in the Capitol building, and on the eagle's plumage. Additionally, its radiant luster exceeds that seen on most examples. A few unobtrusive surface and rim ticks are completely within the parameters of the designated grade and and do not detract in the least from the coin's superior eye appeal. Census: 17 in 65, 1 finer (8/09).(Registry values: N7079)
