    Description

    1913-S Double Eagle, MS62
    Second-Lowest Regular-Issue Mintage

1913-S $20 MS62 NGC. Only the 1908-S has a smaller mintage among regular-issue Saint-Gaudens twenties (excluding High Relief coins). The San Francisco Mint manufactured 34,000 double eagles in 1913, many of which were held in storage over the years, providing collectors with a good supply of Uncirculated representatives from which to choose. This MS62 example has frosty, rose-gold surfaces that display greenish elements and bagmarks peppered over each side. The strike lacks a bit of detail on the Capitol and torch hand, as usual.
