Rare Gem, 1913-S Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle1913-S $20 MS65 PCGS. The 1913-S boasts the third-lowest mintage in the entire Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle series. Although less rare than the 1909, 1914, and 1915 issues in AU and Choice Mint State, Gem quality survivors are in a rarity class all their own. The orange-gold surfaces of this example display pleasing satiny radiance and crisply struck features. Both sides are free of distracting bagmarks, and the high level of eye appeal is quite uncommon for the issue. Population: 11 in 65, 1 finer (12/03).
