Description
1914 Twenty Dollar, MS65
Scarce in This Grade, Rare Finer
1914 $20 MS65 PCGS. The 1914 Saint-Gaudens double eagle is
significantly scarcer overall than either the Denver or San
Francisco issues of this date. Mint State examples are usually seen
in the MS62 to MS64 grade range, and Gems are notably elusive.
Finer pieces are major rarities. This Gem example displays impressively sharp definition throughout Liberty's figure and the eagle's wing, including the top of the torch which is sharp. A few light marks on Liberty's figure prevent an even finer grade. Original wheat-gold color adds to the eye appeal. We have only handled a single numerically finer example within the last decade. Population: 48 in 65 (4 in 65+), 6 finer (10/23).(Registry values: N4719)
