Description
1915 Twenty Dollar, MS64+
Lustrous Colors, CAC
1915 $20 MS64+ PCGS. CAC. Following the inaugural year of
the Saint-Gaudens double eagle in 1908, the bulk of production was
eventually diverted to San Francisco, and the Philadelphia Mint
only struck 152,000 pieces in 1915. Although the issue survived
well, it is scarce in Gem and extremely rare in Premium Gem. This
near-Gem twenty shows boldly struck devices on vibrant green-gold
surfaces accented with subtle hues of orange and lilac. The devices
are richly frosted and only lightly abraded, producing an
outstanding visual presentation and quality that earns this piece
CAC endorsement.Ex: Chicago ANA (Stack's Bowers, 8/2011), lot 9852.(Registry values: N2998)
