Description
1916-S Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle, MS66
Virtually Unobtainable in Higher Grades
1916-S $20 MS66 PCGS. From an adequate mintage of 796,000
pieces, the 1916-S Saint-Gaudens double eagle is still occasionally
available at the MS66 grade level, but finer coins are virtually
unobtainable. In fact, only four examples have been certified in
MS67 at NGC, while PCGS has certified no coins at that level, and
none have been graded finer (12/25). This spectacular Premium Gem
displays sharply detailed design elements, with fine definition on
The Capitol building and the torch. The impeccably preserved
orange-gold surfaces radiate vibrant mint luster from both sides
and overall eye appeal is terrific. This coin should find a home in
the finest collection or Registry Set.(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26FX, PCGS# 9169, Greysheet# 10174)
Weight: 33.44 grams
