Description
Bold Gem 1922 Double Eagle
1922 $20 MS65 PCGS. Even for this Saint-Gaudens issue that is considered a relatively available date, the MS65 level is basically the top of the line; PCGS has certified only seven coins finer, and they are likely to be in strong hands today. (We note that of the current top six PCGS St. Gaudens $20 Gold, Circulation Strikes [1907-1932] Registry Sets, only one of them, the top-rated Dr. & Mrs. Steven Duckor Set #2, contains an MS66 example of this issue.) Deep, mellow orange-gold patina and near-pristine surfaces are the hallmarks of this splendid Gem. The strike is uniformly bold save at the extreme lower obverse rim, and singular abrasions are absent.(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26G3, PCGS# 9173, GSID# 10145)
