Description
1923-D Double Eagle, MS67
Finest Collectible Grade
1923-D $20 MS67 NGC. Mint luster is decidedly satiny,
typical of the Denver Mint, shimmering over smooth orange-gold
surfaces. The Capitol dome is bold, as is Liberty's torch hand. A
single mark in the rays above the date appears to be the sole
imperfection. The 1923-D double eagle is one of the only attainable
mintmarked double eagles of the 1920s, with mass meltings
decimating the population of most other issues. However, MS67 is
the end of the line for availability. NGC lists just four in 67+,
one in 67★ , and one finer, while PCGS lists just a single 67+,
making 67 the finest collectible grade.Ex: Central States Signature (Heritage, 5/2023), lot 5519.(Registry values: N4719)
