Description

1924-D Saint-Gaudens Twenty, MS64
Rarely Seen Finer

1924-D $20 MS64 NGC. Starting in the late 1930s, collectors often considered the 1924-D Saint-Gaudens double eagle a great rarity despite its mintage of more than 3 million pieces. Most of the issue was held in vaults until the Gold Recall of 1933 took effect, and subsequently melted. The 1924-D is still somewhat scarce at the MS64 grade level, and finer coins are rare. This attractive Choice specimen exhibits sharply detailed design elements and lustrous orange-gold surfaces, with only scattered, minor signs of contact.(Registry values: N4719)
