Description
Near-Gem 1924-D Twenty Dollar
Seldom Seen Finer
1924-D $20 MS64 PCGS. The 1924-D twenty dollar Saint-Gaudens
issue is today in the middle rarity rankings amid the series,
certainly not at all common but more available than in decades
past. This is a familiar narrative for mintmarked issues from the
1920s, with the 1927-D being the legendary exception to the
rule. This near-Gem offers bright, satiny mint luster. The predominating deeper orange-gold color around the peripheries cedes to brighter yellow-gold in the centers of each side. The only abrasions of note are a few small marks on the rays on the lower reverse. This is another Saint-Gaudens issue that is seldom seen at the Gem level, where PCGS has certified only 11 pieces (8/10).(Registry values: N4719)
