Description

1925 Saint-Gaudens Twenty, MS66
Doubled Die Reverse

1925 $20 Doubled Die Reverse, FS-801, MS66 PCGS. Bold die doubling is evident on the eagle's legs and wing feathers on this important Cherrypickers' variety. PCGS has attributed just 40 examples of FS-801, with this MS66 coin being tied with two others as the finest (2/19). The strike is sharp, and the original orange-gold and peach luster is incredibly luminous in-hand. Under a loupe, faint mattelike texturing is evident in the fields, contributing to the unique eye appeal of the luster. Noticeable abrasions are pleasantly absent from each side.
