Description

Radiant 1925-D Double Eagle, MS63

1925-D $20 MS63 PCGS. The overarching theme of decimated mintages among later Saint-Gaudens double eagle issues affects the 1925-D. Garrett and Guth (2006) note that "the seemingly large mintage was virtually eliminated." This Select piece is an attractive sun-gold survivor, strongly lustrous with pleasing detail and few marks overall, though two parallel abrasions are present to the right of Liberty's branch. (Registry values: N4719)
