Description
Flashy Near-Gem 1926-S Double Eagle
1926-S $20 MS64 PCGS. The 1926-S double eagle is a former great rarity that is now merely on the "elusive in high grade" list, along with numerous other issues in the series. Most certified survivors top out at about MS63, however, making near-Gems in constant demand. Soft, frosted mint luster radiates from orange-gold and lilac surfaces on this coin, which shows just a few scattered, grade-consistent abrasions along with plenty of eye appeal. PCGS has certified only 29 examples finer (9/09).(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26GF, PCGS# 9185, GSID# 10183)
