The 1926-S is one of several entries in the Saint-Gaudens double eagle series that can be considered "less rare than formerly," since overseas repatriations have increased the available supply. Attractive near-Gem examples such as the present coin are still much in demand, however. Ebullient luster shines forth from the orange-gold surfaces, and there are few significant marks.
