Description

1927 Double Eagle, MS67
Just Three Certified Finer

1927 $20 MS67 NGC. Warm honey-gold surfaces are devoid of any singular flaws. Strike definition is uniformly bold and eye appeal is outstanding, matching its technical preservation. The 1927 (2.9 million coins struck) is not as common as some other Philadelphia Mint issues of the decade, such as the 1924 (4.3 million) or 1928 (8.8 million), which have extremely high survival rates due to repatriated examples from abroad. However, the present issue is still very collectible, although much less so in Superb Gem than its 1924 and 1928 counterparts. The present offering is the finest available before certified populations dwindle to the vanishing point: NGC has certified just three examples in 67?, with none finer (10/25), and no changes in that population since we last sold this coin three years ago.
