Description
1927 Double Eagle, MS67★
Just Three in 67★ at NGC, None Finer
1927 $20 MS67★ NGC. Rich, yellow-gold surfaces
contain a healthy dose of reddish-orange, creating a striking and
extremely attractive appearance. Abrasions are all but nonexistent,
as is expected at the Superb Gem level. Strike is strong, with only
a hint of obverse indistinctness on the face. Each of the eagle's
feathers are fully defined on the reverse. The 1927 double eagle is
readily available in all grades through Gem and is the second most
common issue overall due to repatriated examples from overseas.
However, populations plummet as one rises through the upper levels
of Mint State. The present offering is tied for the finest
certified at NGC with only two other certifications. Census: 3 in
67?, 0 finer (10/25).(Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26GG, PCGS# 9186, Greysheet# 10150)
Weight: 33.44 grams
