Description
Reddish-Gold MS67 1927 Saint-Gaudens Twenty
1927 $20 MS67 NGC. The 1927 Saint was minted in large numbers, 2.9 million pieces. But the reason it is a common type coin is not because of its mintage but rather the survival rate. Apparently very few were melted in the mid-1930s, a fortunate occurrence for collectors today as the 1927 was a wonderfully produced coin. This piece exemplifies those high standards of production. The mint luster is thick, frosted, and has a pronounced reddish tinge, actually more resembling a 1928 than the usual yellow-gold 1927. The striking details are strong throughout and there are no mentionable abrasions on either side. Census: 50 in 67, 0 finer (1/10).(Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26GG, PCGS# 9186, GSID# 10150)
