Description

Enchanting Superb Gem 1928 Double Eagle

1928 $20 MS67 PCGS. CAC. One could hardly wish for a more attractive type coin from the Saint-Gaudens series than a high-grade 1928, and the fortunate winner of this lot should consider it a wish granted. The surfaces are immensely lustrous and thickly frosted, the norm for this popular later issue. The strike is similarly bold, particularly on Liberty's flowing hair. On the obverse, soft peach and rose elements add color to the otherwise yellow-gold fields, while the reverse exhibits delightful lilac accents. The Registry enthusiast should note that this coin is tied for the finest certified by either NGC or PCGS (8/08).(Registry values: N4719)
