Lustrous MS61 1929 Double Eagle
1929 $20 MS61 PCGS. During the Roaring Twenties, far more
investors were interested in paper profits than hard money -- much
to their detriment, if they were still in Wall Street shares during
the stunning stock market crash of October 1929. Virtually none of
the more than 1.7 million double eagles struck in Philadelphia that
year ever left Treasury control, and only a few hundred examples
are known today -- far fewer than the number of collectors who want
one. This is a more affordable example, abraded on the high points
with wispy flaws in the fields but great apricot-to-gold luster.
