1930-S Double Eagle, Well-Struck Unc Details
    An Important Series Rarity

1930-S $20 -- Filed Rims -- PCGS Genuine. Unc Details. From a limited mintage of 74,000 coins, with most of those melted in later years, the 1930-S double eagle is an important rarity in the Saint-Gaudens series. It is likely that none were shipped overseas from this Western mint, and those that did survive were likely held by American collectors or dealers. The PCGS website suggest that 50 to 75 examples are known.

The glossy-bright apricot-gold surfaces of this Unc Details specimen exhibit well-struck design elements, including Liberty's facial features and fingers on the branch hand, the panes of the Capitol building, and the eagle's feathers. Both sides reveal few mentionable marks, but the rims reveal filing and an occasional rim bump.
