Description
1910-D Double Eagle, MS66
Elite High-Grade Survivor
1910-D $20 MS66 PCGS. Denver Mint officials struck 429,000
Saint-Gaudens twenty dollar gold pieces in 1910. According to Roger
Burdette (2018), "Analysis of authentication and auction records
suggests that about 250,000 coins were shipped to Europe and
150,000 made their way to South America. The balance of coins were
domestic circulation or used in Canada or Mexico." This elite
Premium Gem likely represents a repatriation from South America,
where coins were subjected to minimal handling. Orange-gold
surfaces exhibit a couple of grazes in the right obverse field but
little else. PCGS lists three numerically finer grading events
(1/23).(Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26FG, PCGS# 9155, Greysheet# 10165)
