British Protectorate. James Brooke Proof Cent 1863 PR65 Brown PCGS, Birmingham mint, KM3, Prid-31a. A scintillating representative struck for the first British Raj of Sarawak in Borneo, and surely among the more attractive colonial issues within this sale. Bolstered by a prevailing reflective gloss across both faces and shimmering cerulean and peach tones, the decidedly well-struck motifs remain impactful upon illumination. Just the third of this date in Proof we've handled since 2018 and always a favorite for collectors.
