Description

Charles I (1625-49) gold Unite, S-5531, 3rd Coinage of 1637-42, engraving by Briot, MS61 NGC, rather a silly technical grade because, in U.S. coinage, "61" denotes something unpleasant, whereas this is a splendid coin, virtually Mint State, sharply struck in all design elements on a full, unclipped, uncracked, round flan having gorgeous iridescent golden red toning over residual luster. No detriments of any kind! This is one of the prettiest of these Scots gold pieces to be found anywhere, in any collection, in any auction, and it's worth strong bids from knowing collectors seeking a marvelous representation of this portraiture coinage. Our estimate, we expect, will be exceeded.
