Description
Impressive 1837 Small Date Dime, MS66+
1837 10C No Stars, Small Date MS66+ PCGS Secure. CAC. The shape of the 3 and 7 in the date, in addition to the physical size of the digits, distinguish the Small Date and Large Date logotypes. The Small Date logotype has curved tops to the 3 and 7, while the Large Date logotype has flat tops to those digits. This example has the reverse rotated a few degrees right of normal. Both sides have a bold strike with full hair detail on the obverse and full leaf detail on the reverse. The surfaces are exceptional, with frosty ivory luster. Splashes of russet, blue, and iridescent toning add to its overall eye appeal. This impressive piece is the single finest example that PCGS has certified, and one of just four Small Date dimes that have received the MS66 numerical grade (8/10).
