Description

1838 Large Stars Dime, MS67
No Drapery, Reverse Die Flaws

1838 10C No Drapery, Large Stars, F-113, R.4, MS67 NGC. The 1838 Seated dimes exist with either Large Stars or Small Stars, with the Large Stars variant more plentiful than the Small Stars type, although both kinds are available from the 1,992,500-piece combined mintages. This Large Stars Superb Gem example shows a wormlike die flaw between ONE and DIME and die erosion beneath the date. The finely grained surfaces of this sharply struck example offers deep, golden-brown and apple-green border toning on the obverse and an ivory-silver reverse. The sharp strike carries through to both sides. NGC Census: 12 in 67 (2 in 67+), 2 finer (12/25).
