Description

Conditionally Rare Gem 1841-O Seated Dime

1841-O 10C MS65 NGC. At just a shade over 2 million coins, the 1841-O boasted the highest mintage of any dime issue up to that time, and it remained the second-highest mintage dime until the 1853 With Arrows came around. In grades as high as the current piece, however, this is a difficult coin to find; indeed, with only four pieces certified in any MS65 or higher grade by either major grading service, this coin would have to be considered a member of the Condition Census. Mostly gray in color, this coin has splashes of electric-blue and violet on the upper obverse and near the reverse peripheries. Well struck, with a bare minimum of surface marks. Census: 2 in 65, 1 finer (12/08). (Registry values: N2998)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2385, PCGS# 4580, Greysheet# 4091)

Weight: 2.67 grams

Metal: 90% Silver, 10% Copper
