Description

Gem 1841-O Dime, The Finest Example Known to PCGS

1841-O 10C MS65 PCGS. Open Bud Reverse. Small O. With 2 million pieces produced, the 1841-O is certainly not a rare issue in an absolute sense. Most survivors are, however, concentrated in the Good-VF grade ranges, with Mint State survivors of all varieties numbering only 29 coins at NGC and PCGS combined (7/01). Easily among the finest examples extant, this richly toned Gem is layered in dappled olive-copper shades that reveal modest reflective tendencies in the fields at a few angles. Hints of powder-blue patina are seen in a few peripheral areas, distracting abrasions are noteworthy by their absence.
From the Gulf Coast Collection.
