Description

1842 Dime, MS66
Rare This Well-Preserved

1842 10C MS66 NGC. Fortin-106, R.2. This is an early impression from the dies, as no cracks are detected on either side. Horizontal die lines behind Liberty's right (facing) elbow are diagnostic of this variety. Each side is awash in vibrant, frost-white luster, with boldly struck design elements and seemingly perfect surfaces. The 1842 dime is easily obtainable in circulated grades, but at this grade level it is undeniably rare. Census: 5 in 66, 1 finer (7/14).(Registry values: N1)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2386, PCGS# 4581, Greysheet# 4033)

Weight: 2.67 grams

Metal: 90% Silver, 10% Copper
