Description

1842-O Seated Dime, MS63
Only Five Finer at PCGS

1842-O 10C MS63 PCGS. Fortin-105, R.3. Medium O mintmark. This New Orleans date is an important condition rarity in the series when found in Uncirculated grades, and it is very rare in Select Uncirculated or finer condition such as this sharp example. Well struck for the issue, with Liberty's head bold and the star centers complete. The bow knot is sharp. Golden toning appears mostly near the margins; otherwise, the coin is untoned and brilliant. Mint luster is abundant but a bit subdued over the clean, smooth fields and devices. Housed in green label holder. Population: 4 in 63, 5 finer (5/14).(Registry values: N4719)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2387, PCGS# 4582, Greysheet# 4092)
