1844 10C VF30 ANACS. Walter Breen (1988) writes that Kansas City writer Frank Ross hoarded 1844 dimes and for years publicized how rare the date was. While not as rare as Ross contended, it is still one of the most popular dates in the Seated dime series. This remarkably clean specimen displays blue, purple, and orange toning in the fields which highlight most of the lighter gray devices.(Registry values: N991)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 238A, PCGS# 4585, GSID# 4035)
