Description

1846 Ten Cent, AU55
Rare in This Grade

1846 10C AU55 PCGS. The 1846 dime is the lowest mintage Stars Obverse Seated dime (31,300 circulation strikes). It is scarce in all grades and rare in Extremely Fine and above. Indeed, PCGS and NGC have certified only 130 coins in all levels of preservation, and a mere five in Mint State.
The Choice AU specimen being offered in this lot displays an untoned obverse and nearly imperceptible tan color at the reverse margin. The design elements are uniformly well defined, and close examination reveals just a few light unobtrusive circulation marks. Overall, this is a rather pleasing example that is very rare in this grade. Population: 4 in 55, 4 finer (11/11).(Registry values: N1793)
