Description

Elusive 1853-O With Arrows Dime, MS64

1853-O 10C Arrows MS64 NGC. More than 1 million 1853-O dimes were minted, but these piece entered circulation at a time when commerce was starved for small change. The typical survivor is worn, with VF or XF grades seen most frequently. It is an underrated date in all Mint State grades. NGC and PCGS have each graded a single piece finer than this example. A satiny near-Gem with bright silver surfaces and peripheral blue-green toning, thicker on the obverse. Faint surface marks including trivial nicks and scratches that prevent a higher grade. Census: 1 in 64, 1 finer (7/10).
