Description

1854-O Arrows Dime, MS65
Only One Finer at PCGS

1854-O 10C Arrows MS65 PCGS. Breen-3285. Large mintmark variety. The 54 in the date do not touch. A splendid Gem Seated dime that is mostly brilliant with just a hint of color, frosty surfaces, and no visible abrasions. The strike is razor sharp, and the overall appearance is fantastic. An interesting die crack extends from the dentils through the second A in AMERICA to the wreath. Arrows were added to the dates of all silver coins (except Trimes) in 1853 to signify a change in the weight of silver contained in each. These arrows only lasted through 1855, and thus this short-lived type is always popular. This piece will thrill both dime specialists and type collectors alike. Population: 8 in 65, 1 finer (2/14).
