Description

Appealing 1857 Seated Dime, MS65 NGC

1857 10C MS65 NGC. The 1857 is the last Seated dime produced before the Civil War whose mintage figure exceeded 5 million coins. Lustrous surfaces are visited by a few wisps of dappled milky-gray color, but at first glance this specimen appears to be white. The design elements are well struck, although stars 12 and 13 are weak in the centers, and the ribbing on the end leaves of the wreath is soft. A few inconsequential ticks on Liberty's cheek and midsection are not detracting. This coin has great eye appeal that will not escape the Seated dime enthusiast. Population: 29 in 65, 12 finer (12/04).(#4614) (Registry values: N2998)
