Scarce Near-Gem 1858-O Dime

1858-O 10C MS64 NGC. Fortin-101. Gerry Fortin states on his website seateddimevarieties.com that only one die pair was used. He notes that the 1858-O is "a scarce date that becomes difficult in EF or better." The present precisely struck near-Gem displays stone-gray and russet-tan fields and devices. The obverse periphery is ocean-blue and the reverse border is golden-brown.(Registry values: N2998)
