Description

1858-S Dime, AU55
Elusive in All Grades

1858-S 10C AU55 PCGS. Fortin-103, R.4. A mintage of only 60,000 coins and a proportionately low survival rate makes the 1858-S Seated dime an elusive semikey date in the series. The issue is scarce in all grades, and becomes rare at the AU level; Mint State pieces are exceedingly so. This Choice AU representative displays a bold strike with only slight friction over the high points of the design. Splashes of olive-gray toning accent luminous pewter-gray surfaces, leaving this piece with pleasing eye appeal. Population: 5 in 55, 9 finer (10/14).(Registry values: N1793)
