Description

1858-S Ten Cent, MS63
One of Eight Mint State Pieces

1858-S 10C MS63 PCGS. CAC. Fortin-102, Greer-102. The following identifiers confirm the variety: the pendant is centered over the 5, and the left bottom serif of the 1 ends over the left side of a denticle. The 1858-S dime is extremely rare in Mint State, and the certified population verifies that comment. PCGS and NGC have combined to certify exactly eight examples in all Mint State grades: one in MS61, two in MS62, two in MS63, one in MS64, one in MS65, and one in MS66 (3/13).

A medley of bluish-gray, golden-orange, russet, and apricot patination adheres to both sides of this Select specimen. The design elements exhibit an impressive strike, and no mentionable marks interfere with the coin's pleasing overall eye appeal. This specimen will be an excellent addition to a high-grade collection of Seated Liberty dimes.(Registry values: N4719)
