Description
1858-S Seated Dime, MS64
The Only Certified MS64
Just One Finer NGC Coin
1858-S 10C MS64 NGC. Variety 101. This piece has a delicate
die crack joining stars 4 through 7, with tiny die chips at the
outer points of stars 1, 2, 3, 12, and 13. At
www.seateddimevarieties.com, Gerry Fortin notes that this date is
extremely rare in Mint State, and the certified population verifies
that comment. NGC and PCGS have combined to certify exactly eight
examples in all Mint State grades with a combined population of one
in MS61, two in MS62, two in MS63, one in MS64 (this coin), one in
MS65, and one in MS66. The surfaces are brilliant and fully
lustrous with satin fields that contribute to light cameo contrast
on each side.(Registry values: N7079)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2393, PCGS# 4618, Greysheet# 4105)
