Description

1863 Dime, Prooflike MS65
Low-Mintage Semikey

1863 10C F-101a, R.5, MS65 NGC. The Philadelphia Mint coined 14,000 dimes in 1863, all from the same die pair used to strike proofs. This is a better date in all grades and is rare in Uncirculated condition. Prooflike fields and bold devices are hallmarks of this Gem example, which has modest cameo contrast on the frost-white obverse, while the reverse displays ocean-blue and rose-gold toning. Only a few light marks are visible beneath a loupe. Census: 9 in 65, 11 finer (4/18).
