Description

1865 Dime, MS65
Ex: Richmond Collection

1865 10C MS65 NGC. Fortin-101a. Ex: Richmond Collection. "The top loop of a previously punched 6 is visible between the 8 and 6 digits in the date," per the Gerry Fortin website. A prooflike and nearly brilliant Gem. Marks are essentially absent and the strike is fairly sharp. Each side displays a partial wire rim. A mere 10,000 pieces were struck, since fractional currency drove silver coins from circulation.
