Description

1866 F-102b Dime, MS64+
Low-Mintage Postwar Rarity

1866 10C F-102b, R.6, MS64+ NGC. Silver coin was still hoarded after the Civil War, and mintages of dimes at Philadelphia fell to token levels. The 1866 has a production of just 8,000 pieces. This is a brilliant and semiprooflike near-Gem with exemplary surfaces and impressive eye appeal. Fortin-102b is the clashed die state of F-102a, which in turn is the business version of the proof-only F-102. F-102, F-102a, and F-102b are all from the same die pair.
