Description

1869 Dime, Richly Toned MS66
Long Flag Variant

1869 10C MS66 PCGS Secure. CAC. Long Flag to 1 in Date. The 1869 is much scarcer than its mintage of just over a quarter million pieces would indicate. Only a couple of dozen pieces are known in mint condition, and this is one of the finest. This appears to be an early striking from the Long Flag die pairing as the fields are brightly reflective through the multiple layers of toning seen on each side. Also there are no die cracks that might be present on later strikings. Rich cherry-red and cobalt-blue toning is splashed over each side of this immaculate Premium Gem. Population: 5 in 66, 4 finer (8/10).
