1875-CC Mintmark Below Bow Dime, MS65
Top-Grade Carson City Dime Variety

1875-CC 10C Mintmark Below Bow MS65 PCGS. CAC. In 1875, Philadelphia Mint officials apparently had a minicrisis trying to decide whether to place mintmarks for the two "mintmark mints" striking dimes -- San Francisco and Carson City -- within or beneath the bow, producing reverse dies of each sort. These make interesting varieties, but there is not a great deal of market differentiation among them. In any case, this 1875-CC dime is conditionally elusive and aesthetically attractive, showing alternating silver, pink, rose, and ochre areas with generous luster and minimal contact. Population: 8 in 65, 1 finer (8/13).
