Description

1876-CC Seated Dime, MS67
Tied With Three Others for Finest at PCGS

1876-CC 10C MS67 PCGS. Fortin-103, R.4. Type One Reverse. This variety exhibits bold doubling on ONE DIME, with the spread most evident on the two E's. The 1 in the date is also mildly repunched south, with the underlying numeral visible on the top edge of the flag of the primary digit. As a date, the 1876-CC dime is easily obtainable in all grades shy of MS67 (more than 8 million examples were struck), but at this level the collector will usually have to wait a long time for an example to become available.

This rare offering features a beautifully preserved, boldly struck representative with frosty mint bloom. Each side exhibits peripheral hues of teal and sea-green toning around soft lavender-gold central regions. PCGS has encapsulated just four submissions in this grade, and none finer (12/14), making this coin truly special not only in aesthetic appeal, but in rarity.(Registry values: N1)
